To the Zho we go!

into the desert and what we found there

1.jpg
Night had just settled on the Qadiran desert as our party make their way Even deeper into the southern territories. All of the group could definitively say that it was not safe in the capital they have to get even farther away from tubby man in his house of horrors that surely awaited any one of them. They are frantic writings of them in the same direction that they were heading at the very beginning, through the southern desert toward Zho Mountains which is where hints of Kyra’s parentage had come to Skess and company. The princess and the shadowy woman far behind them the group trudges forth into the unforgiving desert night.
the wind blows south westerly as Kyra stands to proclaim to her party….

Khyra seems grateful that her bird and hippogriff found their way to the party so she once again has her companion and mount. “It’s good we’ve put so much distance between us and that… place. Let’s just hope we don’t run into anything else like that. I’d rather not be caged again,” she says with a small shudder.

To the Zho we go!

Karhid looks around nerviously, “Yes, we must continue, onward!”

To the Zho we go!

Skess, mounted on his noble kerjack proclaims
Yes we must do the leaving” as the mighty foot of kerjack points an assuring hoof toward the west as if to indicate that is the direction to travel!

To the Zho we go!

the ever dutiful and pleasant Tupac follows his master close behind as he picks up his crowbar, the tool which he cherishes and has surely saved each of the group on one or another occasion. The crowbar, as if filled with the awesome might of the desert itself resonates with the very sand around the group and line is drawn magically in the sand before them.
I believe the mountains are in this direction Kerjack the locator of a thousand wounded

Before the group is the path drawn by Tupac’s bar of crow, the mountains a distant blip in the starry night sky; and the ever eager kerjack’s direction—with naught but dunes surrounding them on any other side. Which way should we go?

Khyra looks between Kerjack and Tupac, her gaze settling on Kerjack. She nudges Siska (her hippogriff) towards the west.

To the Zho we go!

Kharid sees the direction most of the rest of group are heading, looks at Tupac, and reluctantly guides his horse in the same direction

To the Zho we go!

the scrunch, scrunch scrunch of footprints surround them as the group follows Siska and Kerjack, though it appears that the only feet around are the ones which they themselves are utilizing, all mounted, save Tupac who keeps up with the beasts of burden through sheer devotion and persistence.

To the Zho we go!

I proclaim “My bretheren, does this not look like a trap?” indicating to the perhaps less observant that the path we had just trod has become something of a road.

To the Zho we go!

Never have I seen such a thing master, in all our many adventures we have had together, I being your lifetime faithful servant who is skilled in profession mechanic. Though if you’ll permit me to speak this reminds me of the caper with the peoples beetle does it not to you?” Tupac grins, knowing that his master, who cares so deeply for him, will remember this shared moment of brotherhood.

To the Zho we go!

Khyra shrugs, “I had thought that it was a good sign, some sign of civilization to tell us if we are going the right direction or not”. She takes a closer look around her.

To the Zho we go!

But all that fills her gaze in any direction is the night sky and the dunes… save of course for the path which seems to be developing at its own pace, getting more intricate the father behind the group one looks.

To the Zho we go!

“Perhaps we should follow aside it to be safe, well developed roads like this are not common in the desert and it is certainly no road that I recognize” says Kharid

To the Zho we go!

Skess, with a shake in his normally assured and courageous voice calls out “Ok, that I suppose I must accept. Though it seems the daftest thing!

To the Zho we go!

But the path lies behind us, it is born out of the very steps we trod! Do we wish to circle back in the middle of the desert?” Tupac adds, sensing his master’s dismay.

To the Zho we go!

Kerjack, as if completely unaware of the path schrunch behind them whinnies and snorts as he paws the ground impatiently, wanting to get back to the urgent business of trailing whatever it was that he is so fixated on.

To the Zho we go!

Khyra eyes the odd path again. “Yes, seeing if we can walk to the side of this strange path is a good idea. Though I would like to stay going the same direction.”

To the Zho we go!

Kharid looks back and realizes “Perhaps this path meant to guide our enemies to us? A spell to track us maybe?”

To the Zho we go!

Is it not moving? if it is behind us..” a shudder falls over Skess “perhaps it wants us…

To the Zho we go!

As if possessed by the spirit of Ichabod Crane our once noble knight knocks his knees, spurring kerjack to go faster and farther from the path and toward whatever his mad fixation is at this moment.

To the Zho we go!

Khyra looks confused but follows Kerjack, taking flight if necessary to keep up, though staying close to the ground.

To the Zho we go!

Kharid also just as confused but also sensing urgencgy follows after. “Skess! What has gotten into you!?” he shouts as catches up

To the Zho we go!

the scrunch scrunch becomes far more of a rumble rumble, and the quicker they travel the more luxurious a road they leave behind them. Tupac, noticing the sand welling up like a wave along the sides of the path assumes a battle stance, summoning all of his arcane mechanic power through a rough finger signing of the six sided jagged symbol from which he draws strength.

Bursting from the path ahead of them comes an oily menace as black as sin, with steam rising from the head of this air cooled beast!
